You Touch, You Play – Double Touch

Let’s continue with the beauty of chess stories. There are so many minute yet very clever moves that are so intricate which may make the difference between winning & losing.

One of those imperatives is; once you touch a piece you are required to make a move with that piece. There is no way to take back you decision and attempt to make a move with another material. Unless of course the piece you have touched has legally allowed spaces to advance. Once you let go the action is completed and the piece cannot be touched again until the competitor completes their turn of play.

I was watching the @Netflix Documentary Queen of Chess and realised that this situation occurred at a major tournament. Thus the "double touch" incident refers to a controversial 1994 chess match between Grandmaster Garry Kasparov and female chess prodigy Judit Polgár.

Yapay zekâ ile doğal zekânın beceriklik anlamında neredeyse eşitlenmeye başladığı bir dönemden geçiyoruz. Heves ve merakla geliştirilen yeni teknoloji zamanla üzerine düşeni fazlasıyla yerine getiriyor. Başlangıçta tasarım amacı olarak öngörülen veri toplama ve bilgi derleme görevini çoktan aşıyor. Sentetik veri miktarı insan yapımı veriyi geçiyor.

Dolayısıyla ortaya çıkan bileşik veri karışımından elde edilen çıkarımlar da zamanla çeşitliliğini yitiriyor.

Bu durum, bir süre önce tarım ve hayvancılık sektöründe yaşanan “deli dana” krizinin dijital dünyadaki bir uzantısıyla karşılaşıp karşılaşmayacağımız sorusunu gündeme getiriyor. Elbette teknolojinin aklına geleni kontrolsüz biçimde ortaya saçmasına izin verilmiyor. Konunun etik ve hukuki boyutları da tartışılmaya devam ediyor. Tuhaflaşan yapay zekâ uygulamaları toplum tarafından kolayca kanıksanmıyor ve pazarda kalıcı yer bulamıyor. Bu nedenle aklımızı çelmeye çalışan yazılım sistemlerini anlamayı ve gerektiğinde yönetmeyi öğrenmemiz gerektiğini sürekli hatırlıyoruz.

Sayısal "Dijital" Sınırda Yol Almak

12–15 Mayıs 2026 tarihleri arasında Ankara’da "Dijital Sınırda Yol Almak" temasıyla düzenlenen ITU Küresel Düzenleyiciler Sempozyumu (GSR-26) çıktıları ve tavsiyeleri:

(Küresel Düzenleyiciler Sempozyumu), GSR amacı, bağlayıcı yasalar çıkarmak yerine, birleşik ve küresel bir "dijital düzenleme araç seti" oluşturmaktadır.

Bu çerçeve, geleneksel pazar denetimini; yenilikçiliği ve yatırımı, güvenli bir şekilde teşvik etmek amacıyla tasarlanmış, sonuç odaklı, esnek ve kanıta dayalı bir yönetişim modeline doğru kaydırmaktadır.

Ankara'da kabul edilen temel kararlar ve rehber ilkeler beş ana konu başlığına odaklanmaktadır:

Sayısal "Dijital" Sınırları Düzenlemek

Konu başlığımız, Telekom sektöründe yaşadığımız baş döndürücü gelişmelerin geleceğine ışık tutma amacını taşımaktadır. Üstelik işin içine siber güvenlik kaygısını da eklersek sınır yerine cephe kelimesini kullanmak daha anlamlı olabilir.

12 yıl önce, 7 Kasım 2014 tarihinde Güney Kore’nin Busan şehrinde ITU – “Plenipotentiary Conference PP-14” konferansına misafir olarak katılmıştım. Toplantının planlanması ve sonrasında yönetim tarzı işin ehli uzmanların uğraşılarını yansıtmaktaydı. Seçkin delegelerin katılım gösterdiği konferansta aralarında birleştirici konuların konuşulduğu oturumlar gerçekleştirildi. Bilgelikle idaresi yürütülen etkinlikte güncel meselelerin yanı sıra temel başlıklar tartışıldı. Olabildiğince hem fikir olunan maddeler dışında sert çekişmeler yaşanan başlıklar için çözüm arandı. Alınan kararlara kısaca göz gezdirirsek başlıca kesinleşen çıktılar şu şekilde sıralandı.

I am very close to reaching quinquagenary year of my corporate lifespan. Fifty years of engineering, management & leadership. It was full of sparkling successes as well as dismal disappointments. Maturing from an inexperienced young spearhead engineer to a thoughtful & knowledgeable mentor. Although this period was memorable it was always demanding.

Witnessed an immense era where historical episodes were written highlighting transformation cycles. One thing was certain, stability never lasted for more than a brief period. It was resembling the famous economist Nicolai Kondratieff sequences. He has defined the phases in four stages. Prosperity, Recession, Depression, and Improvement. These terms describe long-term fluctuations in prices, interest rates, and overall economic growth. Nowadays paramount differences are shorter, deep valleys and higher peaks crop up instantly. Decisions are squeezed into nick of time. So called an impulse function not like the smooth curves of Kondratieff curves.

I must have been lucky to have chosen electrical & electronic engineering which has bilateral relationship with all industries large and small. Learning customer business plan ahead of an offer is as crucial as always. Talking to the right section of an organisation has become a field expertise on its own.

What I am going to highlight, is a small percentage of involved; thus it is worth to acknowledge those who have dedicated their time and efforts for success. The reason behind my argument lies in the fact that a single example may set a precedence.

Evrenin büyüklüğünün gözlem ile nasıl sınırlandığı...

Latent Heat & Latent Need

He called this "Latent Heat" because it was "hidden" from the thermometer. It was there, doing work, but you couldn't see it until the phase change was complete. Once the transformation is complete instruments started to show the real change. Moving up or down depending whether heating or cooling is taking place.

How did this term evolved from thermodynamics to marketing?

The migration of the term "latent" from physics to marketing didn't happen in a single leap. It was a gradual "trickle-down" process that moved from the hard sciences into sociology and economics before finally becoming a cornerstone of modern marketing strategy.

I remember my university days when I came across the word latent. It was in the form of latent heat, as we were taking lectures (1975), at mechanical engineering department in University of Manchester. Electrical and Electronic Engineering building, looking west towards Brunswick Street was neighbouring; left side with mechanical engineering and right side with chemical engineering on Dover Street. I always considered that chemistry was never my cherished field of interest. Therefore I was meant to have a desire in physics and the building was located just across the road.

Now almost 50 years after graduation I still enjoy learning from respectful experts. Continue to educate leaders to embrace communities by appreciating their hidden ambitions and aspirations. This is where the word Latent starts to depict a path towards its journey to sales and marketing. Notably, why it has become a critical question continuously asked to new ventures, initiatives and start-ups?

First of all let’s dwell into the scientific explanation. I may be able to interpret the concept in its simplest illustration as shown above.

I had the privilege of attending an enlightening lecture delivered by Suat Basen at The Otto and Fran Walter Rotary Peace Center at Bahçeşehir University .

In his inspiring presentation, Suat Baysan took us on a journey that naturally aligns with Rotary’s mission of building peace:

• Wolfgang Pauli’s Nobel Prize (1945) and his Exclusion Principle — symbolized by serene golden wheat fields ,reminded us how fundamental laws create order and harmony in nature. Just as Pauli’s work brought clarity to quantum mechanics, true peace requires understanding and respecting the “rules” that govern human coexistence.
• The Standard Model of Elementary Particles (quarks, leptons, bosons like photons and gluons) illustrated the invisible forces that hold our universe together. In the same way, shared knowledge and scientific cooperation can hold humanity together, transcending borders and conflicts.

• The giants of the Quantum Realm ,Max Planck, Albert Einstein (E=mc²), Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, Erwin Schrödinger ,showed how bold ideas and collaboration across nations and cultures drive progress. Many of these scientists lived through wars and used their intellect to seek a better world.
• The Metaverse — Timeless & Infinite , bridging the virtual and real worlds through platforms, sensors, data, digital twins, Web3, AI, and AR/VR. This vision points to a future where technology fosters global understanding, empathy, and dialogue ,powerful tools for peacebuilding, education, and reducing divisions.
He masterfully showed that science is not just about discovery ,it is about creating harmony. From the quantum level to the digital horizon, the principles of order, connection, and cooperation mirror the foundations of sustainable peace.
A heartfelt thank you to Suat Baysan for this thought-provoking session, and to the Rotary International Peace Center for hosting conversations that blend intellectual curiosity with the pursuit of a more peaceful world.
